MyBatua Women"s Islamic Dress Casual & Party Wear Munerah Long Skirt in Brown (Medium)

I"m not Islamic. I purchased this not for everyday wear, but for a costume I"ll be wearing to the Edwardian Ball in San Francisco this January. I couldn"t find any other Victorian/Steampunk looking skirts in the right shade of brown to match the other pieces of my costume that I already have, but during a random search for "long brown skirt," I found this and it"s absolutely perfect. It"s just the right length, the right color, super comfortable and I absolutely love the pockets. This will be my second year attending this particular event and from my experience last year, it"s kind of a pain carrying around a purse (even a small one). So the pockets on this skirt will allow me to carry the essentials around without having to carry a purse, which is awesome.

That being said, I will have to say I was pretty disappointed that the skirt had a really strong chemical-like smell to it. It almost smells like motor oil. I thought perhaps it was whatever packing materials it had been stored in, but after washing it, the smell still lingers. So I think it might be the dye or perhaps a chemical the fabric was treated with. The smell does fade a bit after each washing. However, if it weren"t for the fact that this was the only skirt I could find that matched the other pieces of my costume, I probably would have returned it.

For the price I paid there shouldn"t be a need to do marathon washings to get the odor out. However, beggars can"t be choosers, and I know I wouldn"t find another skirt that will match this perfectly no matter how hard I look. So I"ll just continue to wash it until the odor is gone. It just would have been nice not to have to deal with having to worry about the smell of the skirt after paying over seventy bucks for it.
